Don Bosco Fambul was open in January 1998 in a small building in Freetown. Don Bosco Fambul aims to address the needs of the children (in particular, boys) living on the street and youth at risk; to provide for them education, shelter, healthcare, food, clothes and prepare them for re-admittance into mainstream of society as fully functioning, responsible members.
Children have learnt to survive by begging for food on the streets. Many try to earn money by searching in rubbish dumps for scrap to sell and food to eat. So many young people have a common sensitivity to the great values of life, love, freedom, human dignity, peace and justice, tolerance and solidarity, but they meet with hunger, poverty and unemployment that reduces many of them to struggle for survival.
At Don Bosco Fambul, day after day, we welcome many street children without families or far from home, young people without any training or out of job, youngsters exposed to delinquency or those sexually exploited, and  many other degrading situation, in which their lives are exposed to.
Don Bosco Fambul helps vulnerable children to get over their difficulties of marginalization and danger, and to become capable of facing their future in a better way. Through the dedication and commitment of the Don Bosco Fambul staff, nearly 95% of our boys are able to be reunified with their families and others reintegrated into society yearly.
